Parent Reps
Who Can Become a Parent Rep?
Are you a parent or caregiver of a child with Special Educational Needs and/or Disabilities (SEND) aged 0-25
residing in Herefordshire?
- Do you wish to contribute to improving outcomes for children and young people
with SEND? - Are you willing to share your experiences and those of others navigating the world
of SEND?
If you answered yes to these questions, consider becoming one of our volunteer Parent Rep
As the Parent Carer Forum , it is crucial for us to gather diverse perspectives and experiences from
families to create a collective voice. This will help us represent your needs and enhance services. Our
goal is to bring about meaningful, positive changes for children and young people with SEND and their
families by ensuring that your voices are heard at a strategic level. To achieve this, we need regular
input from parents regarding the challenges they encounter.
Everyone involved in the forum is a parent or caregiver, and we recognize that your
time is valuable. While we would love for all our Reps to engage fully in every aspect of
the role, we understand that family and work commitments may limit your availability.
Regardless of how much you can participate, every contribution is appreciated and
makes a difference. The best part is that you can tailor your level of involvement to suit
your current needs. Below is a general outline of what different levels of involvement
for Reps might entail:
- Level 1: Share requests for feedback on specific topics with your groups and
families, and encourage parents expressing their views or experiences to complete
a feedback form. - Level 2: All of the above, plus attending support groups or coffee mornings to help
promote the Forum (PCVH) and gather feedback from participants. - Level 3: All of Levels 1 and 2, in addition to attending or participating in steering
groups, workstreams, or meetings on specific topics to represent a group of
parents.
